Glossier Phase 1 Set Review

So…I jumped on the Glossier wagon. I’ve been searching endlessly for an “I woke up like this” routine, and minimal makeup just doesn’t cut it for me. Before your makeup can look good, the skin underneath has to as well, right? And that’s exactly why Glossier stood out to me. They said it best, “Skin first, makeup second, smile always.”

Before I basically forced myself not to purchase any of their makeup products, I thought I would try out their skincare products first, so I chose the Phase 1 set. The Phase 1 set includes the Milky Jelly Cleanser, the Priming Moisturizer, and the Balm Dotcom. The great thing about this package is not only the payout that it gives but the deal that Glossier gives you by purchasing all three as a set!

I received my products at the beginning of March. Having it almost been a month, I wanted to do a breakdown of each product and how they have been working for me:

Milky Jelly Cleanser

When I first applied this to my face, I was not expecting it to be rose water-infused. I personally am not the biggest fan of the rose scent, but if you’re like me, you’ll get used to it. This cleanser applies like a dream, honestly. It’s true to its name: squishy & jelly-like. In the morning, I take this bad boy with me into the shower & with just two pumps, I come out feeling not only refreshed but oxygenated — which is what my dry skin needs, especially this time of year.

Priming Moisturizer

My first impression of this product was not the greatest, I’m not going to lie. I wanted to see how this worked with the cleanser alone, so I dropped my daily olive oil application and applied this moisturizer alone. My skin was not happy that day. Now, I’m not saying this is a Glossier issue or a product issue. This reaction had more to do with my skin type than the product itself. I have extremely dry skin. Not normal to dry, just dry. My skin needs an enormous amount of moisture to feel comfortable. I gave the priming moisturizer another chance the next day, but this time, I applied olive oil first. It worked much better this time around. My skin with just olive oil alone looks more on the oilier side (as it should), but this moisturizer soaked up the oil a bit more, making my skin look less oily but still hydrated.

Balm Dotcom

I honestly was expecting this lip balm to glide right on, but it has a much thicker consistency than I expected — and I mean this in the best way possible. I did more research on the product, and Glossier actually adds castor seed oil in their lip balms. Castor oil is one of the more thicker consistency oils out there and is a great resource for moisture. I chose to purchase the “cherry” balm flavor. This not only leaves my lips feeling moisturized for the rest of the day, but I can easily run errands with just this balm on with the red tint that it gives off.

Overall, I have been loving the progress my skin has made this past month, and I owe it all to my Glossier Phase 1 set. I can legitimately feel my skin breathing everyday after my morning routine. Having eczema-prone skin can be difficult at times because rashes and dry skin can dull out your skin tone. But ever since I began using my Phase 1 set, I’ve received compliments from others about how my skin has never looked better and brighter. These are amazing products, quality & price-wise. They work to sooth your skin, gently and effectively. And above all, the packaging is refreshing as well. The bubble wrap pouch and different stickers are an adorable touch. And now that my skin has improved by a mile, I can finally bite the bullet and start window shopping their beauty products, hehe.
